London IN MARCH

I absolutely LOVE London and could not wait to go back and share it with our kiddos! So much has changed in this city since we were there last and we were thrilled to explore it all over again. If you get the sense that this city was for Archer, you’d be right. He was super happy with everything we did here. If you’re planning a trip, these are the top things to do in London with your family:

  • Big Ben - We didn’t know that this was on Archer’s list until we were already in town. I asked everyone the first day when we arrived what they were most looking forward to during our visit. Fortunately, we already had planned to see Big Ben, but because of all the construction and scaffolding (March 2022), we weren’t planning much time there. Still, walking out of Westminster Underground Station and looking up at the freshly restored clock tower was a moment I wished I had captured on camera. Definitely an ‘I can’t believe we’re here!’ moment for Archer.

  • Afternoon Tea - Don’t skimp on this one! It takes some time and you need a couple of hours to have tea. We were delayed landing so we tried to squeeze it into an hour, but decided to come back the next day instead. Much better idea! Staying in Covent Garden, we chose the Charlie and the Chocolate Factory Afternoon Tea at One Aldwych. Complete with fizzy lifting drinks, snozzberry jam, and a chocolate swudge milkshake mixed by waterfall, we had a magical, whimsical time that was much more our speed than a stuffy, fancy tea experience.

  • See Hamilton at the Victoria Palace Theatre - Why we waited so long to see this on stage, I do not know, but also, it was worth the wait! We have every song memorized and have seen the Disney Plus version a couple of times. STILL. Y’all. It was mind-blowing. The performance, the theatre, it was everything. Plus, we felt like we had our own little inside joke—being Americans watching this in England.

  • We created our own Private Walking Tour that covered the Tower of London, Tower Bridge, Borough Market, and Globe Theatre. All must-see stops and worth the hype. Because we walked along the Thames, we were able to find some great photo spots of the Tower Bridge. I’m not sure I’d do this one in the rain, but we had an unseasonably sunshine-filled week in London so the walk was gorgeous.

  • Scheduling a Harry Potter Tour for our Potterhead, was a requirement for visiting London. We met up at Millennium Bridge, saw the Ministry of Magic, Diagon Alley and Hogsmeade, as well as Leicester Square, and captured a few photos in movie filming locations. The surprising highlight of the tour was ending at the House of MinaLima to see real props from the movies. Not to mention the absolute breath-taking work of Miraphora and Eduardo. This was such a better option than the touristy Harry Potter shops lining other streets. Then, we headed to King’s Cross station and tried our best to squeeze through the brick wall at Platform 9 3/4.

  • Picadilly Square, Buckingham Palace, Westminster Abbey

  • If you time your day right, you can catch a spot on the London Eye at sunset. It’s a beautiful way to see the sun go down over such a beautiful city. Even if you’re wary of heights, this may be one to check out as the enclosed capsules hardly feel like you’re moving at all.
